On this safari you´ll get to mush your own team of 4-6 dogs. After the tour, we sit down by the fire with a warm drink and some snacks. Length of the route is 20 km, and it depends quite a bit on the weather how long it takes for the whole tour, normally 1h30min. Duration of the whole program is approx. 3h.
Price per person 285 € / adult when sharing a sled (for 2 persons). 400 € for a single driver (for 1 person). 240 € / child. Price includes transportation from area of Ylläs.
On the whole day husky safari each one drives a team of four dogs. The route goes up and down the landscape and offers marvelous views, and something to do for the mushers as well. The day offers nice time to explore the Lappish Forests and to enjoy the beautiful surroundings, spend joyous time with the dogs and for sure have a day to remember. After our journey, guide will serve delicious lunch inside “kota” -teepee. Driving distance on the tour is appr. 35-40 km, and we will be back at the starting point in the afternoon.

This tour is for families with small children.
We want to offer a something more easier for the children as the 20 km is a bit too long especially during the coldest time to sit in the sled for the whole time. The tour takes ca. 45 minutes, and total duration of the program is 2 hours. On this tour adults will share a sled together 2 per sled, and the children will be joining the tour on the guides’ sleds. After the tour we will enjoy warm drinks and cookies in the kota.
Minimum booking is two adults and one child. You can add more participants. Price includes transportation from area of Ylläs.
Do you have some special wishes for the dog sled tour and you don´t want to do it with a group? We can do a customized program for you as a couple or as a group privately on request. Both half day and full day tours can be done as a private tour, or we can do both tours a bit longer, with or without the lunch break. Price depends on the length and how many persons will join. Just ask for an offer, we’re happy to accommodate!
General info & FAQ
– Booking terms: Min. 7 days prior to the activity free cancellation. If the activity is cancelled less than 7 days prior to the date of activity, we will charge 100%. We recommend to have a travel insurance for case of medical emergency / illness which covers the expenses in case of an illness.
– We will provide you with extra clothing if you need some. We have winter parka jackets, thermal trousers and woolen musher shoes, Polarlobbens.
– During December / January sun is not appearing over the horizon and days are pretty short. Between the tours we have two hours break for the dogs to be able to offer them some rest and give something to eat and drink. This means that the afternoon tours are driven at least partly during the dark hours of day as its getting dark around 15:00 /16:00. Seasonal changes are playing a big part of our life and if you come to Lapland at this time, you will need to get adjusted with the short day light. We have long days in March / April with good snow conditions, so if you want to be sure to make the tour during sunshine, we recommend to book your stay in Lapland rather later during the winter.
– Only adults (persons min. 18 years old) are able to drive with a sled. The person driving the sled needs to be strong enough to hold the team and also to be able to make reasonable decisions in case of any unexpected incident during the tour. We will keep the right to make the last decision about who is able to drive with the sled.
– A child under 4 years old can join with their parents in the sled. Bigger children will be joining the tour safely in our guides sleds.
– Max. 3 persons are able to go on one sled so a family of 4 or more will be devided into 2+ sleds.
– If you feel uncertain about driving the sled on your own, please let us know before the tour and you can join the tour sitting in a sled driven by a professional musher.
– Our temperature limit is -35 degrees. If its colder, we don´t do any tours. Instead its possible to do a kennel visit and walk with the dogs to the nearby lake (pricing according to our 10 km safari price). If you wish to cancel the tour due to the too cold temperature, you may do so free of charge (when the temperature is -35 or colder).
