Our passion about sled dogs has always been laying strongly on races and competitions – first of all dogsledding is our hobby and we want to introduce our way of life for our guests. Thats why we have also named our tours based on the three different kind of competions that exists: sprint, middistance and long distance. Sprint is a short and speedy run, on a middistance you have more time to focus on the dogs and enjoying a bit more about the sceneries as well, and on the long distance its all about team work – you will be part of the team with your dogs, helping them in the long uphills and learning each dogs own behaviour, style of running and working in front of the sled and you will be amazed about their enthusiasm even on the longer run.
This one is for persons looking for more time on the runners, and being able to take the best out of the dogsledding tour – 1,5h drive will give you enough time to get into the dogs rhytm and see them enjoying the running. On this tour you are able to share a sled with your partner or with our guide, or do it single if you wish to go alone. After the tour you may help us to unharness the dogs, cuddle them after the ride and then its time to have a berry juice in the kota hearing stories about sled dogs.

Long Distance Tour

On a long distance tour you will feel the importance of the team work; you are driving with an own team of four dogs, so this tour is only possible as single driving. We are going in a bit more challenging terrain, with more uphills and downhills, where you need to be fit for action anytime. This tour is also made especially to support our long distance racing team training. Nice sceneries all along the trail, you will feel that you are in the middle ofa real lappish wilderness with your dog team. We make couple of short breaks during the tour, but the lunch we will have after we have returned back to the dog yard. Lenght of the tour is ca. 35 km.
4-4,5h for the whole program.
When you are looking for action but not for too long, this tour is ideal for you, and ideal for families as well. Children will be joining on this tour comfortably sitting in a sled driven by our guide, while the adults are sharing a sled together. Length of the tour is ca. 10 km and we are normally spending about 45 minutes on the trail. After the tour we cuddle the dogs and then its time for some berry juice in the kota hearing stories about sled dogs.

Do you have some special wishes for the dog sled tour and you don´t want to do it with a group? We can do a customized program for you as a couple or as a group privately on request. Both half day and full day tours can be done as a private tour, or we can do both tours a bit longer, with or without the lunch break. Price depends on the length and how many persons will join. Just ask for an offer, we’re happy to accommodate!
General info & FAQ
– Booking terms: Min. 7 days prior to the activity free cancellation. If the activity is cancelled less than 7 days prior to the date of activity, we will charge 100%. We recommend to have a travel insurance for case of medical emergency / illness which covers the expenses in case of an illness.
– We will provide you with extra clothing if you need some. We have winter parka jackets, thermal trousers and woolen musher shoes, Polarlobbens.
– During December / January sun is not appearing over the horizon and days are pretty short. Between the tours we have two hours break for the dogs to be able to offer them some rest and give something to eat and drink. This means that the afternoon tours are driven at least partly during the dark hours of day as its getting dark around 15:00 /16:00. Seasonal changes are playing a big part of our life and if you come to Lapland at this time, you will need to get adjusted with the short day light. We have long days in March / April with good snow conditions, so if you want to be sure to make the tour during sunshine, we recommend to book your stay in Lapland rather later during the winter.
– If you feel uncertain about driving the sled on your own, please let us know before the tour and you can join the tour sitting in a sled driven by a professional musher.
– Our temperature limit is -35 degrees. If its colder, we don´t do any tours. Instead its possible to do a kennel visit and walk with the dogs to the nearby lake (pricing according to our 10 km safari price). If you wish to cancel the tour due to the too cold temperature, you may do so free of charge (when the temperature is -35 or colder).
Terms & rules
TERMS AND RULES FOR POWERUN HUSKY TOURS
1) Only a person who is good physical and mental condition is able to drive the sled and minimum 18 years old.
2) Guide is always entitled to make a decision before or during the tour whether a person is allowed to drive the sled or not.
3) Children, youth and elderly people are always joining the tour sitting in a sled driven by professional guide.
4) Parents are always responsible about their children during the activity and also at the kennel.
5) Person driving the sled cannot be under the influence of alcohol or any other drugs.
6) Temperature limit for tours longer than 10 km is -30 degrees. No tours are being made if the temperature is colder than -35 degrees. In case of cancellation because of too cold weather, we change the program into kennel visit. If someone doesnt want to take a part in the program, need to cancel the reservation immediately after recieving the information about the program change. We cannot guarantee re-arrangement for an other time.
7) Persons heavier than 110 kg must inform us about their weight before the tour. He / she will be seated in our guide sled; we are able to make a big and stronger team for the guide but we won´t give more than 6 dogs for anyone who is driving the sled for the first time.
8) Its not allowed to scare the dogs or do any harm for them during the tour or at the kennel. In case of any misbehaviour we will take immediate actions and person involved is not allowed to drive the sled.
9) Everyone is responsible about their own actions and if there is anything which could somehow effect on persons actions / capability to drive the sled, has to inform the guide about this latest before the driving instructions are given.
10) Animal welfare and safety is our priority and the same we require from everyone joining our tours. If you don´t feel like being interested about the dogs best interest, and just have fun yourself, this is not for you. We ask all our guests to do their very best to make the activity as safe as possible for both dogs and people.
